I can’t believe summer is almost over already! I’m a little sad to lose all this sunshine but I am pretty excited for fires in the wood stove and cozy sweaters. That’s my favorite!

Canned Blueberry Jam
Canning season is finally here! Every year I get so excited to start canning. It’s just so satisfying putting all the foods we’ve grown in the pantry where we can enjoy them all year around.

Oh how I love the fall season! Life seems to slow down a bit (even though we have school and regular activities!), you get to look forward to a nice cozy house to step into after a crisp day outside, and best of all is you get to start baking and using your oven again for all those yummy fall recipes!
…How to Freeze Fresh Corn
This year’s garden has felt like it’s come and gone so quickly. I usually feel like the work never ends and I’m totally overwhelmed and by summer’s end I am glad to be done with all of it. This year has been wonderful. Not feeling overwhelmed and our garden is producing some amazing, and tasty, veggies. The perfect year! 🙂 I’m actually putting in a fall garden this year and I am excited about it! It won’t be much. Just some broccoli and onions. It would have included some cauliflower as well but those dang bugs ate all my seedlings…
…Canned Green Beans
My how the summer is flying by! I can’t believe it’s almost over. Fall will be here in about a month and school starts in just a couple weeks! Our garden this year has been a great success. We’ve had a little trouble growing green beans in the past which has always been annoying because it’s a favorite vegetable in our house! In one of my last posts I had mentioned going back to work at the office a couple days a week and turns out I’m just not cut out to be a working mom. It was just too much for me to handle the office, keeping up with the housework, spending time with family and friends, and posting on the blog. So the blog suffered. 🙁 But now I am back to being a full time stay at home mom where I find the most enjoyment and that means I have time to sit down and share recipes and such with you all!

Last week we cleaned up all the windfalls from under our big apple tree and we ended up with six 5 gallon buckets worth. We turned all of it into applesauce and apple butter and now we have a TON to enjoy throughout the next year. …
Canned Tomato Sauce
Tomatoes, tomatoes, and more TOMATOES! Our plants are going crazy. Just when I think the weather is too cool to ripen any more of them… …

I can’t believe summer is almost over! At least in our neck of the woods. With the end of summer comes a lot of canning. Green beans, corn, tomatoes, pears, and salsa. Most years we make quite a bit of salsa but last year we made a little bit TOO much (is there really such a thing as too much salsa?? Yes. Yes there is…) so this year is just one batch and I believe I have perfected my recipe. …
