Week 11 this week! Our theme was Cooking/Baking this past week. Scarlett always loves getting in the kitchen and helping make things so we enjoyed the theme a lot!

2018-2019 Winter Term Week 10
Week 10, what a week! We had loads of things going on this week along with all the normal stuff. It was Scarlett’s birthday, we had a memorial service for my grandma, lots of family visits, traveling, work, and school on top of that. We did our best to get everything done for the week early because most of our plans were towards the end of the week. We didn’t get to everything but I’d say we didn’t do too bad. 🙂

If you know much about me you’ll know I’ve got a thing with bugs. I am one of those “Is it on me?! Get it off me!! AHHHHH!” types even with the least harmful of bugs. I have tried to get better since having kids since I don’t really want my girls to think there is a reason to freak over them but I’m still a work in progress!

I just can’t believe we are less than a month away from the term ending! Last week’s theme (Week 8!) was manners/emotions. It was a great week of learning for Scarlett and I. I feel like she is just starting to understand her emotions and I felt like we both benefited from this theme. She got to tell me how some things make her feel and I was able to teach her appropriate ways to express them to others.

Week seven’s theme was superheroes! Scarlett got a Wonder Woman costume a while back and she loves running around catching people with her lasso of truth. 😀 This theme isn’t really very educational but it was pretty fun.

It was Valentine’s Day theme this last week. There were lots of conversation hearts and glitter involved and Scarlett was all about that! I don’t know if the conversation hearts are different than when I was a kid but the flavor wasn’t too bad compared to what I remember. 😀

Week five’s theme was dental health. This theme is a lot of fun for me. I used to work as a dental office receptionist and this past week I went back to working part time! That is part of the reason this post is getting out so late… I’m still trying to figure out how to schedule our week so we can still fit everything in. 😀 Anyways, it’s great to teach young kids how important it is to keep your teeth clean and healthy.

I’m not really sure why I love groundhog’s day so much but I’ve been looking forward to this theme since the start of the school year. I guess it’s just fun to be able to talk about it all week and then be able to watch the groundhog segment on the news with the kids. Scarlett got so excited this year. She wanted the groundhog to not see his shadow and she got her wish this year! Ironically, we are experiencing really cold temperatures (for our area anyway) right now and we might even get a little snow this week! 😀

Week 3 was really fun with our family/friends theme. Anything that focuses on family is a win in my book though. 🙂 Along with our assignments I made sure to mention different relationships as they came up in conversation during the week just to add a little more theme related material.

Our theme for the week was Snow/Winter. We don’t have snow in our area very often and when we do it’s pretty light, but it did get pretty darn cold last week so at least that was on theme. 🙂
