So after last week’s post, I wanted to make sure to get this pancake recipe out pretty quick. It’s a great recipe to start out with and it’s super simple to throw together.
…How to Make a Sourdough Starter
Hello everyone! I have been totally obsessed with sourdough lately. I made a sourdough starter a few years back and used it for a couple years and then I neglected it and thought I should throw it out. Recently, I started a new one and in my research realized that I shouldn’t have been so quick to throw out my last one. It hadn’t been fed for about a month and come to find out I probably could have brought it back. 🙁

Oh how I love the fall season! Life seems to slow down a bit (even though we have school and regular activities!), you get to look forward to a nice cozy house to step into after a crisp day outside, and best of all is you get to start baking and using your oven again for all those yummy fall recipes!
…How to Freeze Fresh Corn
This year’s garden has felt like it’s come and gone so quickly. I usually feel like the work never ends and I’m totally overwhelmed and by summer’s end I am glad to be done with all of it. This year has been wonderful. Not feeling overwhelmed and our garden is producing some amazing, and tasty, veggies. The perfect year! 🙂 I’m actually putting in a fall garden this year and I am excited about it! It won’t be much. Just some broccoli and onions. It would have included some cauliflower as well but those dang bugs ate all my seedlings…
…Canned Green Beans
My how the summer is flying by! I can’t believe it’s almost over. Fall will be here in about a month and school starts in just a couple weeks! Our garden this year has been a great success. We’ve had a little trouble growing green beans in the past which has always been annoying because it’s a favorite vegetable in our house! Mostly the problem was due to the pesky cucumber beetles but our soil has needed some work as well.
…Grilled Chicken
Summer is in full swing! Well it should be anyway… This year in the Willamette Valley we’ve barely had a week’s worth of 80-90 degree days. It’s rained quite a bit as well this summer and it’s mid-July! Such a weird weather year…
…Shredded Beef and Potato Burritos
This is one of my favorite recipes from childhood. Funny thing is I had never actually made it! Until the last year or so I wasn’t a huge fan of cooking beef… I’m not talking about ground beef. It’s more of the steaks and roasts that I avoided. For some reason I was just intimidated by it! Not too long ago we purchased 1/4 of a cow and it came with a TON of steaks and roasts so I kinda had to put my fears aside and learn what to do with the different cuts. I have gotten a lot better at cooking/grilling steaks and most roasts I do fine with but I’m still working on my skills. 😀
…Strawberry Jalapeno Jelly
Oh my goodness it has been way too long since I have posted on the blog! In one of my last posts I had mentioned going back to work at the office a couple days a week and turns out I’m just not cut out to be a working mom. It was just too much for me to handle the office, keeping up with the housework, spending time with family and friends, and posting on the blog. So the blog suffered. 🙁 But now I am back to being a full time stay at home mom where I find the most enjoyment and that means I have time to sit down and share recipes and such with you all!
…2018-2019 Winter Term Week 11
Week 11 this week! Our theme was Cooking/Baking this past week. Scarlett always loves getting in the kitchen and helping make things so we enjoyed the theme a lot!
…2018-2019 Winter Term Week 10
Week 10, what a week! We had loads of things going on this week along with all the normal stuff. It was Scarlett’s birthday, we had a memorial service for my grandma, lots of family visits, traveling, work, and school on top of that. We did our best to get everything done for the week early because most of our plans were towards the end of the week. We didn’t get to everything but I’d say we didn’t do too bad. 🙂
