Week 10, what a week! We had loads of things going on this week along with all the normal stuff. It was Scarlett’s birthday, we had a memorial service for my grandma, lots of family visits, traveling, work, and school on top of that. We did our best to get everything done for the week early because most of our plans were towards the end of the week. We didn’t get to everything but I’d say we didn’t do too bad. 🙂
The week’s theme, if you hadn’t guessed it already, was St. Patrick’s Day. Lots of rainbows, the color green, and we even got corned beef and cabbage thanks to my sister Marissa!! So delicious!
In nature study we completed pages 130-131 in our workbook. Scarlett learned how to draw birds. I really enjoy how this workbook teaches you how to sketch different parts of nature. She just makes it so simple!
In geography we completed pages 60-64 in our workbook. Scarlett is learning a lot about the different types of land in the world. She has learned we live in a valley!
For science we did this rainbow in a jar experiment. It was a great way to learn about density and I think Scarlett understood after all was said and done. She enjoyed playing with the marbles and maybe we dropped a few in the process. 🙂
For art Scarlett made this shamrock suncatcher with her Nana. I taped it to the sliding glass door to admire it for the week and every time I passed by and saw it out of the corner of my eye it scared me because I thought someone was looking in our door. I’m a little jumpy I guess…
For reading we learned the sight words Who, New, and Must. We also read The Leprechaun Trap.
For handwriting Scarlett wrote out all of her new sight words. Our binder ring full of sight words is getting pretty full. I think we will be able to fit the whole school year’s worth on one ring though!
Finally for math we did a couple pages from our Mickey Mouse math workbook. We didn’t get to any of the math activities but now I will have some activities for a rainy day. I had been looking forward to the coin sorting so we will definitely find time to do that in the future.
Thanks for stopping by the blog. See you next week!
