If you know much about me you’ll know I’ve got a thing with bugs. I am one of those “Is it on me?! Get it off me!! AHHHHH!” types even with the least harmful of bugs. I have tried to get better since having kids since I don’t really want my girls to think there is a reason to freak over them but I’m still a work in progress!
Anyways, all of that to say that week nine’s theme was BUGS! Learning about bugs isn’t so awful to me and this theme just made me think of Spring which makes me happy. 🙂
We started our study of Frederic Chopin for music. It is such beautiful music.
For nature study we did pages 126-129 in our workbook. We learned about the spring equinox and we also decided on a few activities to do throughout the month of March. I think the cold temperatures are past us here in the Willamette Valley but we shall see…
For geography we did pages 55-59 in our workbook. We reviewed where land and water are shown on maps and studied about where water meets land.
For science we made this static electricity butterfly. We also watched this video on Youtube that explains why the balloon and tissue paper reacted the way that they did.
For art the girls made these egg carton bees. In the near future we will have some bee hives and I’m looking forward to being able to watch the bees do their work and enjoy some honey! Let me know if you are interested in seeing more posts on that topic!
For reading we learned the sight words Well, Ran, and Eat. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and about 10 poems/short stories in the book When We Were Very Young.
For math we did this bugs in a jar activity and this match the number wheel cards. Both of these activities were great. They were cute and Scarlett enjoyed playing both of them!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Hope to see you next week!
