It was Valentine’s Day theme this last week. There were lots of conversation hearts and glitter involved and Scarlett was all about that! I don’t know if the conversation hearts are different than when I was a kid but the flavor wasn’t too bad compared to what I remember. 😀
We continued our music study of Brahms for week 6. Like I mentioned in my last post, I started working part time and so I am still trying to be able to figure out the best schedule for us now so I felt like music didn’t get played as often as I normally play it but we fit it in a little bit.
For nature study we did pages 114-115 in our workbook. We got to play in a little snow and make snow angels as one of the activities we chose and we discussed how people keep warm in the winter.
For geography we did pages 40-44 in our workbook. Like I’ve mentioned before this study isn’t about learning world geography or anything. On the back of the book it says it teaches the world in spatial terms, places and regions, physical systems, human systems, environment and society, and the uses of geography. We are enjoying going through this but if you are looking for learning places and locations it probably isn’t for you.
For science we did this candy heart experiment. Scarlett enjoyed this a lot since it meant she got to have a few pieces of candy. I like the experiments that go through asking questions about what might happen during the experiment and then comparing the actual results. I feel like I have seen Scarlett ask more questions about reactions in our daily lives since we started the school year and I think it is because of the science experiments. Kinda cool!
For art we did this I love you to pieces craft. My mom actually did this project with Scarlett and then it turned into making a bunch of glittery valentines. She loved it!
For reading we learned the sight words No, Came, and Ride. We read Wherever You are My Love Will Find You (such a beautiful book!) and Pooh Invents a New Game and Eeyore Joins in. Pooh got us laughing this week!
For handwriting Scarlett wrote out her sight words.
For math we did our Mickey Mouse and Morning Starters workbooks, counting hearts activity, and monster dice match game. I’ve really seen an improvement in Scarlett when it comes to recognizing numbers and counting.
We are already halfway through this term. I can’t believe it has gone so quickly! Thank for stopping by today. Hope to see you next week!
