Week 10! I was so excited for this week of homeschool. We got to do a bunch of Thanksgiving themed activities and for some reason I’ve just been looking forward to this week since we started. So yeah… It was a great week. 🙂
We spent time outside throughout the week but nothing too structured here. I’m realizing now that it’s not all that important to have a ton of “assignments” when it comes to nature study. Scarlett, and really any 4-year-old, has so much curiosity that it’s just natural to learn things as she plays outdoors. We went on a hike with some friends over the weekend and played at the park and the girls experience so much of nature in those simple outings that I’m just leaning more towards less structure for nature study.
For music this was our last week of Tchaikovsky. I’m gonna miss listening to Swan Lake.
For art this week we made these cute paper turkeys. Scarlett always loves this subject. Anything that involves cutting and gluing paper is an instant success!
Handwriting this week we focused on the letters Y and Z. We have now completed our practice on all of the alphabet. Next up will be numbers. Then we can move on to words and sentences. YAY!
For math this week we did our week 10 worksheet, these turkey counting mats, and the counting action dice game. Scarlett is just starting to understand adding numbers together which is so cool!
History this week we continued our Oregon history book. We’ve got a couple more sections left, which might last the rest of the fall term. Then we will be moving onto another history book. I’m thinking something on the whole United States maybe.
For science this week we did this dancing corn experiment. Both of the girls LOVED this. I think it was worth giving up one of my La Croix. 😉
For reading we learned the sight words Help, Run, and Find. We also read The Tale of Miss Moppet from our Beatrix Potter book and Ferdinand.
Now for week 11, we are taking the week off from school for Thanksgiving. I will be posting in a couple weeks for week 12! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I didn’t really plan on Estelle being interested in Scarlett’s school work as much as she has been. So fun to do it all together!
