I can’t believe we have finished 4 weeks of school already! Why couldn’t school go by this fast when I was a kid?! 🙂
Last week was a lot of fun. The school work was great and we also went on vacation. I mean, doesn’t like going on vacation? Since we went out of town on Thursday through the weekend our schedule was a bit jumbled because I wanted to make sure to still get all of our schoolwork done without having to bring a bunch of stuff with us for the weekend.
The only thing we weren’t able to fit into the schedule was our math game for the week. I honestly thought we had covered everything and then as I started getting this post put together I realized we never did it. At least the math game is the same for the next few weeks so we will definitely get to play it.
We started off every day with a devotional, bible story, and prayer while the girls had their breakfast. It just really seems to set us up right for the day when I take the time to do this with the girls. Next I turned on music by Beethoven. Scarlett has been able to identify Bach and Beethoven since we started doing this and I’m totally loving that she knows that. I know a lot of classical music but I couldn’t have told you the composer so I’m enjoying learning right alongside Scarlett.
For nature study this week we studied leaves. We collected a bunch of different leaves and looked at differences and similarities.
For art this week we did this fun marble painted leaf project. I was able to do this project with the kids I watch as well as with Scarlett and they all loved it.
Math this week we did our math worksheet and this number matching leaf activity. I was able to find these leaf stickers at Walmart for 97 cents for each sheet. Scarlett loves stickers of any kind so I’m thinking of doing this sort of activity more throughout the school year because it was a hit!
For handwriting we went over the letters G, H, and I. Scarlett is really improving her pencil grip and her letters are getting better every week. Still not her favorite but she does well at it.
Reading we did another Curious George book and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny and Scarlett summarized them. I just love reading these classic stories. Our sight words for the week were FOR, UP, and LOOK.
After nature study and collecting all of those leaves we were able to pick one for our science project. We made a salt crystal leaf. The tutorial uses pipe cleaners but it did mention you can use real leaves so I wanted to try it out and it turned out great.
Lastly, we did geography. We just read a few more pages from this book. Scarlett looks forward to reading about our home state ever since we got this in the mail.
See you all next week for our homeschool recap for week 5!

I love to read all about your school activities each week! Love the pics of my sweet girl too!

I’m so glad you enjoy reading them. It’s so fun to watch her learn new things every week. I think I enjoy doing school work as much as she does! LOL
