We have been so busy lately. Who isn’t though, right? Since we’ve had such a crazy schedule lately I’ve been going to quick and easy dinners….

We are now just finishing our second cold of the season. Cold/flu season is definitely in full swing! Despite being sick Scarlett still did great with her schoolwork this week. The theme was bones and the body. Scarlett has been very fascinated with how our bodies work and what’s on the inside where she can’t see….

We started out our day with this devotional and a bible story from this children’s bible. Then we turned on some Beethoven to listen to while we do our school work. I also like to turn on our composer whenever I get a chance throughout the day just to add in some more music study. …
Buttermilk Brownies without refined sugar
I have a weakness. That weakness is eating desserts. Especially late at night. I know it’s an awful habit and if I really set my mind to it I would break it but I haven’t chosen to do that quite yet. 🙂
So, in the meantime, while I still indulge in sweet treats I came up with this yummy little brownie recipe. Buttermilk brownies were my favorite kind of brownies as kid. I was a bigger fan of the cake brownies than the fudge brownies back then and these just hit the spot. …

We just finished week 5 of our homeschool year. The weeks and days just fly by so incredibly fast. I see my little Scarlett learning so much and realize she is becoming such a smart and independent little girl. I’m enjoying every single day of seeing her grow up. Sure I miss some of the little baby days but I’m not sad over my little girl growing up. 🙂 …

I can’t believe we have finished 4 weeks of school already! Why couldn’t school go by this fast when I was a kid?! 🙂
Last week was a lot of fun. The school work was great and we also went on vacation. I mean, doesn’t like going on vacation? Since we went out of town on Thursday through the weekend our schedule was a bit jumbled because I wanted to make sure to still get all of our schoolwork done without having to bring a bunch of stuff with us for the weekend. …
Homemade Chocolate Syrup
You probably all know by now that I don’t really like sugar. I mean I like the taste of it but I don’t like what it does for my health. I am always trying to figure out ways to replace refined sugars in our house. One item that I have kept buying in this journey is chocolate syrup. I don’t use it much but my husband often wants a glass of chocolate milk after work and Scarlett likes to join in. So I went looking through some of my old pins on Pinterest and found a recipe for a homemade chocolate syrup and it got me thinking of ways to make it without regular white sugar. …

We had so much fun during week 3! Our theme was apples which we were able to incorporate in more than one subject this week. We finished out our week on Saturday pressing apples to make apple cider. It was what I was hoping would happen when I put together the school schedule but I wasn’t quite sure if it would line up or not. It did and we canned 151 quarts of delicious apple cider! …
