Alright so we finished out week 2 with great success! Scarlett was battling a nasty cold last week so we took it pretty easy outside of school work but she wanted to do the usual routine so we went ahead with our normal schedule of things. Thankfully no one else seemed to catch the bug in our house!

On Monday we continued our September section of this nature book. I use the book as an outline and we do some of the assignments but I also like to give Scarlett the freedom to just explore and learn on her own. When she asks me a question about something I either tell her the answer or we google info about the subject. I’ve actually learned quite a bit in the last 2 weeks. Did you know that possums are immune to rabies and snake venom?!

Estelle likes to explore with her sister 🙂

For arts/crafts this week we did a simple hygiene flip book that you can find here. We read through it together and then Scarlett colored it.

For math we did our week 2 math worksheet, animal counter activities, and race to fill the cup math game. We used these animal math counters.

Onto handwriting, we did letters A-C this week. I’m just so amazed at the progress she is making in her writing. Even in just the first 2 weeks of school!

Reading this week we learned the sight words A, I, & You. I just added them to last week’s words on her binder ring.

We also read The Tailor of Gloucester by Beatrix Potter and The Little Engine that Could. I never get any pictures of us reading!

For science this week we did a cute activity with a little character named Sneezy. With cold and flu season upon us I thought it would be a great to have a lesson on covering our coughs and sneezes. I found the clip art on google, saved it, and then put it in a word document to print.

Then I cut a hole in the nose and fit it over the end of a spray bottle. I added some tape to the back just to hold it in place better.

Lastly, for history we researched the city that we live in. We also reviewed a map of where we live.

For music we continued listening to Bach throughout the school day on Spotify.

Week 2 was a little hard just because of the cold Scarlett had but all in all the week went well and we are just having so much fun learning together. See you all next week for another recap!
