Peanut butter is a staple in our house. We go through it like crazy. A few years ago I realized how many “extra” ingredients were in normal peanut butter so I started buying Adam’s all natural peanut butter. Adam’s is fine but it can get pretty expensive when you go through it like we do so I started making our own and it turns out it is the best tasting peanut butter we’ve ever had AND it is very inexpensive! Win win!
I took a lot of pictures to show the different stages the peanuts go through as you are grinding them up but on a normal basis I put the peanuts in, turn the food processor on high, and let it go for about 4 minutes. Quick and easy.
First stage the peanuts just get chopped up.
Next you’ll notice that the peanuts start forming a ball. Mine wasn’t as noticeable this time but usually most of the peanuts come together in a ball.
Then the ball breaks apart and now we are looking like peanut butter!
This is the consistency that we go for.
Homemade Peanut Butter
8 cups unsalted roasted peanuts
2 t sea salt (you can adjust to taste)
Put half of peanuts into food processor with half of the sea salt. Blend until desired consistency is achieved. Pour into a quart size mason jar (wide mouth is preferred) and repeat with the other half of peanuts. Store in the refrigerator.
Note: You can make crunchy peanut butter by grinding up half the peanuts smooth and then the other half grind them to chop them up a bit. Then mix it all together!
One of my favorite treats… Toast with peanut butter, honey, banana slices, and sprinkled with cinnamon. Mmmmmm.

I love this, so simple! We go through tons of peanut butter too. Where do you go to get the best deal on peanuts?
Haley
Hey Marissa! I get the peanuts from Winco. I believe they are only $1.37/lb 🙂
